Build Your Wealth through Asset Accumulation in Northern Nevada
FGC empowers low- and moderate-income households to achieve the American Dream by creating pathways to financial security and opportunity through asset-building programs for buying homes and attaining other investments.
Down Payment Assistance Programs
FGC is dedicated to providing affordable housing opportunities to qualified households. Through “A Home of My Own,” low-to-moderate income households may qualify for down-payment and closing cost assistance for the purchase of their first home.
- WISH Program may provide a match of $3 for every $1 contributed by the homebuyer. The funds are immediately available for qualified borrowers.
Individual Development Account (IDA) is a minimum 10-month savings program that may provide a match of $3 for every $1 saved by the potential homebuyer. A homebuyer maximizing contributions of $5,000 would have $20,000 toward the down-payment and closing costs for their new home. This is the perfect program for anyone needing to save funds toward their down-payment, or has the need to address credit challenges before becoming a homebuyer.
Individual Development Account (IDA)
This is a savings account that offers the incentive of matched savings to encourage asset accumulation through homeownership. Participants are required to remain in the program for a minimum of ten months (maximum of five years), make monthly contributions to their IDA savings account, and participate in one-on-one financial counseling and group workshops. For every dollar contributed by the client, FGC provides match funds of up to $3.
The Lending Circles program provides assistance to individuals that need help establishing and building their credit. Conceptualized from informal circles that exist among migrant families and their close friends and family members, a lending circle is organized and begins with each member contributing a set sum of money each month that ultimately is paid out in the form of a 0% interest loan to each participant in the circle. The loan repayment is reported as a positive transaction on each participant’s credit report. One-on-one financial coaching and financial literacy classes are also available.
